I went to Barcelona this summer and because of my budget I stayed at a hostel and it was fine. But I think next time I go back I will try a nicer hotel, possibly Hotel Senator. Thanks for the useful info. I found a new travel site, baraaza.com
. You can review destinations, upload pics, and get info for your next trip. I think you might like it.

VIVA ESPANA! Ole ole ole!!! OLEEE!!!! Spain waited 44 years, but they came and conquered with style and class! Not only do they have the Golden Boots, David Villa, but they also took away the most goals for a team with 12 goals scored, as well as the first team to win with an undefeated record! WOW!!! It was worth the wait! And my love, Iker Casillas, he should win the Man of the Tournament! We was excellent! The best goalkeeper in the world at this point in time and he lead his team with such brilliance! So so proud of him! Marcos Senna played the game of his life tonight! Torres' goal was gorgeous! Every single player out there were hungry for the win and they played with so much heart... they play like a symphony! VIVA ESPANA!!!!!

Nightlife in Barcelona is very amusing, as it occurs in the other non-summer fun capitals in Spain: Madrid and Valencia. But also Barcelona takes benefit of its very huge tourism and its population, which allows going out to clubs even at any day of the week 'til the sunrise. A great advantage if you want to go out on monday or tuesday. As for weekends (including thursday nights), the city is crowded of night hawks and lively nightlife. But in this case, in a way not as proportional as in Valencia, where even there are traffic jams all over the city with nocturnal masses, and zones with streets crowded of people having fun. The areas for night leisure are very scattered and not so concentrated, but for tourism I think the better choice is the Port Olímpic. Anyway, try to get a night guide or look up on the Internet.

As Barcelona is a very cosmopolitan city, you'll see many kinds of people all around. So it's difficult for anybody to feel ridiculous or to make a fool of oneself. Barcelona's people is generally very tolerant.

We stayed at Hotel Senator, which we liked very much. It was during the spring and our room rate was very reasonable, well under $100/night. The hotel is in more of a neighborhood but very near a subway stop (Collblanc)so it was pretty easy to get where ever we wanted to go.
